Project Citizens Forum: Freedom of the Press and Its Enemies

The role of public watchdog gives the news media considerable power and influence. For this reason, the news media are sometimes referred to as the Fourth Estate - because they provide a useful check and balance on the executive, legislative and judicial branches of government.

In order to enable the Fourth Estate to function properly, we need to safeguard editorial independence and freedom of the press within the confines of the law. What can we do as reader/listener/viewer, reporter or news content provider in this regard? This forum will feature presentations and discussions on the subject by veteran journalists.
